If you are one of the many, many people who pooh-pooh the idea that your thoughts control and create your life yet desperately wish to win the lottery so you can escape the life you are in. I want to try a little experiment with you if you can just play along for a moment…
Your thoughts are running through your head constantly, yes? Maybe you don’t notice them that much because 95% of all thoughts are the same as the day before and the day before that. But we can pretty much say with certainty that your thoughts are continually running.
Those thoughts are creating your feelings; your feelings are creating your vibration your vibration is creating your tomorrow.
So, for the sake of this experiment/game, let’s say that there is an absolute law that means you have to listen to a radio station 24 hours a day, every day of the week, every week of the year for the rest of your life. It’s on when you wake up, it’s on all day, even while you are at work and down the pub with your mates, it’s on as you eat dinner with your family, it’s on when you go for a run, it’s on when you are in a meeting, at the dentist, on the beach, in the shops, all day no matter what you are doing, it even on when you sleep, affecting your dreams and sleep quality. The only way you may be able to turn the volume down if you meditate, but it will be back at full volume straight after unless you meditate regularly.
You have a choice between just two stations described below, have a read of what they offer and then decide what you are going to choose to listen to?
Station Number One is hosted by your current inner voice, the voice that tells you that:
You can’t afford the nice thing you want
You aren’t worthy of love
You are fat
You are stupid
You are ridiculous
You are broke all the time (no money)
You don’t deserve love/money etc
You look like an idiot in those pants
You can’t do that
You aren’t clever enough to get a better job
You aren’t smart enough
You will never have enough money for your dream car
You’re not strong enough
You’re not good looking enough
You don’t deserve to be happy
You’re too lazy to do anything worth doing
You’re too dumb to be taken seriously
You’re unlikeable/unlovable
You’re powerless
There is no point in dreaming big
You were not meant for abundance and a great life
You’re too old
You’ll never be anything more than what you are
Etc…
This station talks about nothing other than these topics or similar, 24 hours a day. 7 days a week. 52 weeks of the year. It discusses scenarios where you messed up, did something silly, made mistakes, and all the times you gave up, or failed at something. It talks about the people who were mean to you and plays out little sketches of conversations that support the fact you are unworthy of a good life. It talks about the lack of money in your life and how you never, ever seem to have enough money, it talks about how your clothes don’t fit right because you are fat and look disgusting. There is no break in the dialogue, it just keeps going on and on with the same narrative.
Would you tune in???
Seriously, would you? and if you did, how do you think it would make you feel after an hour? 2 hours? A day? A week etc?
How do you think that will affect your demeanour, your attitude, your vibration?
Station Number Two is very different, the opposite in fact. It is hosted by the best version of you, who lives the life you have always dreamed of. The subjects discussed on this station are how:
You can afford the all the nice things you want
You are worthy of, and surrounded by love
You are beautiful
You are intelligent
You are authentically you and loved for it
You never have to worry about your finances
You deserve to have it all
You look stunning in those pants
You can do anything
You are clever enough to get a better job, and opportunities keep coming to you
You are smart and use your mind and creativity to excel in life
You have more than enough money for your dream car
You’re strong enough to take on any challenge
You’re look amazing every day, shining with confidence and style
You deserve to be happy
You’re empowered and motivated to do things that make a difference
You are so skilled in your field that everyone respects your opinion and looks to you for answers
You’re liked and loved by everyone around you
You are powerful
You only ever dream big, and you make it happen too
You were meant for abundance and a great life
You’re experienced and wise
You are growing into the best version of yourself every day
Etc…
The host of this station talks in an uplifting voice and decides to put all your errors and challenges down to experience and discusses how you use them to grow and move forward. The focus is on the kind people who have come into your life and the positive impact you have on the people around you. Every success is celebrated, and every set back is seen as a valuable lesson on the journey to growth.
The dialogue changes as you change and grow, every time you overcome a challenge for example and every time you reach a goal it moves on to the next one.
This station knows that your mind needs down time to recharge and reset, so plays calming music a couple of times a day to help you to unwind and switch off for a few minutes.
And just before bed time it begins to talk in soothing tones about how good you did today as you drift off to sleep.
How would you feel about tuning into this station?
How do you think you would feel after listening to these conversations over and over again day-in-day-out? Would you start to feel more positive? Would you start to feel more motivated; would you start to feel like there is hope for you yet!?
This is what positive thinking (and a bit of self-care) can do for you, it’s believing in yourself, it’s knowing that you are worthy of a wonderful life and that whatever happens you can get through it and that you will be alright, it’s knowing that there is always something to strive towards, there is always better to be had, there is always a reason to move forward and experience new things.
Yes, life can be hard, but don’t make it harder on yourself by letting the negativity of the world and toxic people drown you and hold you back. Listen to your thoughts, and every time you catch yourself telling yourself that you can’t or any other negative thought, tell that thought that it’s no longer needed, and think a new thought to replace it, one that aligns with who you know you are, who you want to be.
For instance, change ‘I can’t afford that’ to ‘I choose not to buy that today’.
Change the narrative in your mind, and your life WILL change.
I’ve put the lists from each ‘radio’ station side by side for more examples using I AM statements as these are the most powerful affirmations. I AM statements tell yourself in no uncertain terms, who you are.

To begin with it will feel like it is a big effort to think these new thoughts, they will feel false and you may just feel like you are lying, making up a false narrative. It’s not false, it’s just not your reality yet. Your subconscious mind will put up lots of resistance and try to correct you by leading you back to your old thinking pattens – don’t stop – keep going – the more you do it the easier it becomes because the message is becoming part of you, you are re-training your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind is the program you work from; your conscious mind is the programmer. All you are doing here is reprogramming and by reprogramming you are creating a different outcome.
Eventually you will override your old beliefs about yourself, the life you live, you capabilities, and your wealth, health and happiness.
Affirmations & visualisations are excellent tools to help to change beliefs – make it fun, it works quicker. I like to get a rhythm going with a mantra of affirmations that work with the pace of my long walks, time them with the beat of my feet hitting the pavement and really getting the feeling, the feeling I will have when it is real for me, get that going right now.
Change your frequency, tune into the best version of you who is already living your best life!
